Meet Our Staff
Cortney Voorhees, MS, OTR/L – Owner and Therapist
Cortney has her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Utica College, graduating with registration and licensure in Occupational Therapy in 2012. She was previously a clinical therapist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the outpatient pediatric clinic for 3 years, and has most recently ventured into private practice. Cortney has expertise in Sensory Processing Disorder, studying and mentoring with Ms. Burpee. She has also completed Level 1 of the Intensive Mentorship Program through the STAR Institute. She is trained to utilize the Therapeutic Listening approach for those with sound based regulatory issues. She is also trained in the SOS approach to feeding to assess and treat children who are picky eaters, have poor oral motor skills, and limited diets.
Jeannetta D. Burpee, M.Ed., OTR/L – Staff Therapist
Ms. Burpee, received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University in 1971, her Masters in Educational Psychology from Temple University in 1974, has 44 years of clinical experience, mentored with Dr. Jean Ayres in the late 70’s through the 80’s, was invited to be one of Dr. Ayres original faculty teaching certification courses for the SCSIT (Southern California Sensory Integration Test) and the SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test), and is presently considered a master level clinician maintaining clinical practice in Elmira. Ms Burpee teaches continuing education courses (to Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapists) privately and through Education Resources, Inc. throughout the United States and internationally, having recently returned from teaching in Saudi Arabia. She also maintains a consulting practice near Philadelphia.
Jill Koenig, MS, OTR/L - Staff Therapist
Jill graduated from the University at Buffalo in May 2013 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She has extensive experience working with children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She was previously employed in school, agency, and early intervention settings. She has completed continuing education courses in the areas of autism, mental health and visual perceptual-motor integration. Jill grew up in the Elmira, NY area and enjoys doing Tae Kwon-Do in her spare time. She joined the staff at Leaps & Bounds in 2016.
Belinda Michaud - Office Manager
Belinda has been with our office since it opened in 2015. She is the friendly voice that you hear over the phone and the first person that you will meet coming into our office. Belinda is the backbone to the office and keeps things running smoothly. She enjoys going to the beach, reading, and spending time with her family when not at work.
Alexandra Rogerson, MS, CCC-SLP - Staff Therapist
Alexandra graduated from Ithaca College in May 2015 with a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology. She is certified in New York State and with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Ms. Rogerson has experience working with children of all ages, most recently working as a clinical therapist in
Early Intervention and with the preschools in Elmira, NY. She has interest in working with students with Autism and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She joined the staff at Leaps & Bounds in 2017.
Justine Jividen, MS, OTR/L - Staff Therapist
Justine graduated from Ithaca College with her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2018. She came to Leaps & Bounds as a graduate student and found her professional home working with pediatric clients. Prior to becoming an occupational therapist, she studied and worked in art and design, and she loves bringing creativity into her practice as a therapist. Justine has additional training in toe walking and adaptive equipment. Outside of work, Justine enjoys yoga, traveling, art, and spending time with her family.
